"Bekkens bestanddeler"
The exhibition takes as its starting point their multi-year project of the same name, exploring stories about and from an overgrown stream by Nordvikgården on the island of Utsira in Rogaland.
The exhibitions are supported by Bildende Kunstneres Hjelpefond (BKH), which recognises the artistic quality of their projects, as well as their contribution to the regional art scene in Rogaland. Read more about the jury's reasoning
About the exhibition
Confrontations with hope, and the essence of place
By Kamilla Skrinde and Kristen Rønnevik
The starting point for our exhibition at Rogaland Kunstsenter is our activist hope project Bekkens Bestanddeler, carried out on Utsira from 2022 to 2024. We wanted to create an art project grounded in social reflection and activism around the protection and care of land — both as idea and as action.
We will present documentation and exploration from Bekkens Bestanddeler through text, scent, drawing, objects, images and sound. The exhibition becomes a displacement of the landscape: from Utsira out at sea, into the exhibition space.
Here we will explore, displace and retell stories about and from the stream — for an audience that may not necessarily have been physically present out on the island at sea. Fragments and hints of stories about community, co-creation and hope.
2022–2024 BEKKENS BESTANDDELER
– A social/relational interdisciplinary project addressing seven of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals and sub-goals.
In recent years we have worked from the starting point of an overgrown stream by Nordvikgården on the island of Utsira in Rogaland. The idea behind the project has been to create a low-threshold meeting and experiential space between different people, networks, nature and cultural landscape, with friendship and kindness as the guiding principle.
