We have invited all artists in Rogaland to submit a work to show the breadth of what art can be, to see established and unknown artists side by side, to gather and display both the incomprehensible and the comprehensible under one roof.
In 1884, a group of French painters launched the Société des Artistes Indépendants as a resistance to the traditional, academic Salon system under the motto "No Jury, No Prizes." Here we are not calling for a revolution, but rather an opportunity to reflect on what art is today and who holds the power to define it. Will the exhibition become a curiosity or provide an overview? Will it be chaos or order?
Everyone has had the chance to submit a work to the exhibition Åpen Dør. The exhibition is curated by director Geir Haraldseth, and is not juried or awarded.
