Rogaland Kunstsenter has invited artist Eirin B. Hansen, who runs Formbar Glassverksted AS in Haugesund, to present works from her series Orbsession in the window facing Nytorget. Orbsession is part of a grieving process, in which the colour black symbolises death, and the sphere is an eternal and constant reminder of life in motion and its certainty of death. The series was shown earlier this year at the artist-run venue Rom For in Haugesund.
The window becomes a new venue with a focus on craft, and we are proud to be working with Formbar in 2018. From October to December we will present a selection of works by Hansen and her colleagues at Formbar, Julie Shirani Kausland and Kirsten Vikingstad.
_______
Eirin (1985) trained as a glassblower at Riksglasskolan in Orrefors and holds a BA in glass art and design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Denmark. In 2015 she completed her trade certificate in glassblowing.
Today she runs Formbar Glassverksted AS together with two glass artists, Julie Shirani Kausland and Kirsten Vikingstad Storesund. Formbar was established in 2017 and is a shared workshop with studio and shop in the centre of Haugesund.
Eirin works both functionally and sculpturally, but is increasingly drawn from the traditional towards the abstract and sculptural. With a passion for shaping glass, she describes herself as decisive and authentic. Much of her work deals with her own feelings and experiences, and she often expresses herself through repetition and movement.
