SKAUS

13.02. - 10.05.2020

Skaus is a platform - at once host and occupant, a support structure that initiates points of encounter between places, artists, institutions, social infrastructures and audiences.

In this pilot, Skaus is shown in parallel at Rogaland Kunstsenter and on a vacant lot by TOU. The two sites are linked through a single body, a structure in two versions, which will develop in different directions over the course of the exhibition. Across several project phases, a range of artists and artist groups will work site-specifically, acting independently from the structures and artistic conditions that have emerged in the space (RKS) and on the site (TOU).

The intention behind Skaus is to draw lines of flight, to shape and accumulate work, and to open up new narratives. By exploring new forms of collaboration and method, ideas around origin, authorship and reproducibility are challenged. The project builds on the idea of continuous change and takes the form of an endless exhibition, which after this pilot will move on to new places and take on new forms.

Skaus is initiated and developed by Håvard Sagen, Mari Kolbeinson and Markus Bråten. They act as conveners for the following events:
