18:00 – BYVERKSTED – Ventetomten by TOU, Kvitsøygata 25

Martinka Bobrikova & Oscar de Carmen have worked together since 2005. Their artistic practice is grounded in the idea of the cooperative. Their work is most productive when challenged and scrutinised by other approaches to cultural and socially oriented production. They have taken part in several residencies, including Sasa Art Project in Phnom Penh, Arctic Art Institute in Arkhangelsk, Seoul Art Space_Geumcheon, KulturKontakt Austria and MeetFactory in Prague. Their works have been presented at venues and projects such as Tenthaus, Akershus Kunstnersenter, Fotogalleriet in Oslo, the 5th Odessa Biennial, Høstutstillingen, Rake, Museum of Contemporary Art Roskilde, Center of Contemporary Art–Tbilisi and Röda Sten. Since 2012 they have run Nomad AiR, a nomadic artist-in-residence programme focusing on the notion of hospitality and the social relations between “host” and “guest”, situating itself within the infrastructure of other institutions.

Byverksted: How do we* shape the city together? (*meaning you, too)

How do you imagine a workshop for developing the city? Who really owns the city? Byverksted transforms Skaus into an open platform for participation, debate and experimentation. Skaus at Ventetomten becomes a meeting place and intersection. In addition to a set programme, Byverksted builds on the idea of participation, with a low threshold for engaging in different ways and on fairly informal terms, with your own ideas and in collaboration between equals. Various participants, actors and contributors create programmes, enter into dialogue, involve neighbours, make and show art, present, discuss, build, share visions and utopias, gather experiences, exchange knowledge, become political subjects, produce wishes, hack the city. Contact: hei@byverksted.no | Benjamin 902 63 618. At byverksted.no you can find plenty of useful resources, knowledge, materials and good ideas for how to hack your own city.

More about Skaus

Skaus is a platform – host and occupant at once, a support structure that initiates points of encounter between places, artists, institutions, social infrastructures and audiences. Skaus is initiated and developed by Håvard Sagen, Mari Kolbeinson and Markus Bråten.

In this pilot, Skaus runs in parallel at Rogaland Kunstsenter and at a Ventetomt by TOU. Across several project phases, a number of artists and artist groups will work site-specifically and act independently in response to the structures and artistic conditions that emerge in the space (RKS) and at the site (TOU).

Skaus explores new forms of collaboration and methods tied to origin, authorship and reproducibility. The project builds on the idea of continuous change and takes the form of a nomadic exhibition, which after this pilot will move on to new locations and take on new forms.
