The struggle for women's rights and their fight for equality has been going on for more than two centuries. Global improvements have been achieved, but the vindication of their fundamental rights and the elimination of inequality in the social, political and cultural arenas is still ongoing. Unfortunately, domestic violence, inequality in employment and general restrictions on women's equal participation in different societal arenas, as well as the limited recognition of their contributions, remain "our daily bread." In many countries, forced marriages, restricted access to education and the exclusion of women from society persist, despite the fact that they represent half of the world's population.
